COMMERCIAL MASONRY RESTORATION

Brick Replacement Project at JC Penney Distribution Center

Brick Replacement Project at JC Penney Distribution Center

The former JC Penney Distribution Center has walls constructed of a soft common brick, similar to Chicago Pinks. Because of many years of damage, mostly due to salt attack, these bricks were beyond repair. We were hired to complete approximately 5,000 brick replacements along the bottom three feet of this massive facility.

Terra Cotta Repair at Boston Store Building

The historic Boston Store Building in downtown Milwaukee has had several exterior “upgrades” over the many years of its existence. One of these “upgrades” was an awning installation. Unfortunately, when it was installed, little care was taken to preserve the historic terra cotta. Several pieces had been removed or damaged during the installation, including a large ship medallion.

We were able to make a mold of the remaining portions of the terra cotta elements, and then created replica elements that accurately matched the original.

Masonry Restoration at Pabst Brewery – Boiler House

Masonry Restoration at Pabst Brewery – Boiler House

The site of the former Pabst Brewery has undergone a wonderful revival, bringing life back to a portion of downtown Milwaukee that was otherwise abandoned since the brewery closed. We were chosen for one of the first restoration projects on this site, the Boiler House.

This project included cleaning the exterior brick masonry to bring it back to its original cream color, tuckpointing repairs, brick replacements, stone and brick infills to match the original construction and installation of load-bearing beams within the building where walls used to stand.
